Gagron fort deserves better

Image
Have you heard of the Gagron fort in Rajasthan? It’s quite likely that you haven’t ..... Likewise, I was not much aware of this fort until I listed down all the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India for myself. I wanted to check how many I had visited till then, and this one to me seems to be a surprise inclusion!  I have been living in Indore, M.P. since last 25+ years. So, it was indeed a big surprise that I never heard anyone talking about this. I have been to Rajasthan many a times in the past but never got opportunity to visit Gagron Hill Fort. There is basically no buzz about this heritage destination. Finally when I got an opportunity to visit Jhalawar earlier this week, I took some time form my busy schedule & visited this place. To my surprise there were no tourists at the UNESCO World Heritage Site. I inquired from the police persons guarding the fort as to where can I find guards who can explain to me about the history of the hill fort .... They replied,  “What g...

Why should we switch to eco friendly detergents Conventional detergents might look an easier & cheaper option. But every time you use your conventional, chemical-filled detergent, you could be affecting you & your families’ health — as well as health of downstream waterways & aquatic life. Today, non-eco detergents are more likely to be a mixture of synthetic chemicals and additives cooked up in a huge chemical plant &, unlike traditional soap, they're generally liquids jirather than solids . On the other hand, plant based laundry liquids are made with non-toxic & natural ingredients.   These environmentally friendly cleaning products are as effective as other soaps & detergents but, all of the eco detergents, are free from any harmful chemicals or pollutants & are devoid of harmful toxins as well. So why should you use eco-friendly detergents? First of all they are natural, safe &, effective. Secondly, they are better for the environment. Acc...

Samrat Ashoka of Mauryan Empire was one of the greatest Emperors of India. Ashoka is called “The Great “ emperor because he renounced war as state policy voluntarily in the 3rd Century BC after the victory at the gruesome battle at Kalinga and instead adopted the policy of Dhamma ie policy of welfare of his subjects after conversion to Buddhism .... Being far ahead of his time Ashoka is fittingly called Ashoka the great. King Ashoka (r. 268-232 BCE) used Rock Edicts to help rule his Empire. These Rock Edicts showed his adoption of Buddhist and Hindu principles, particularly by spreading his moral code he called the Dhamma. Ashoka’s edicts, inscribed on rocks and pillars were found in India and neighbouring countries including Afghanistan, Pakistan and Nepal. In India rock inscriptions were found in Mount Girnar-Gujarat, Sopara-Maharashtra, Yerragudi-Andhra Pradesh, Dhauli and Jaugada in Odisha. One such site of Rock Edicts is a place in Uttarakhand c...

Life's Journey .... A Voyage of Time

Image
Life is not Linear and its graph is always marked with several ups and downs, each denoting a chapter in one's life. One should not get perturbed if he is going through a rough patch in his life, as nothing is permanent including time and a dark chapter in life has to come to an end sometime...... It is important to fight and fight again, and keep fighting, for only then can evil be kept at bay though never quite eradicated. What is important is the zeal, self-confidence, belief and never to quit attitude to fight with evil no matter how big the evil may be.....
