LIVE YOUR PASSION

Image
Far & away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work you loves to do. There is no passion to be found playing small – in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living. The one thing that you have that nobody else has is you. One must aim big and try hard to achieve what he has aimed. For even if after his efforts he does not achieve what he had aimed for initially, but even then he would have achieved substantially bigger, if not that big, but definitely quite big. If you are a scientist, think of becoming an Einstein, not merely a reader in your university. If you are an engineer, aim at some new invention. If you are a doctor think of some discovery which will bring some healing to the human race. THE MERE ACT OF AIMING AT SOMETHING BIG MAKES YOU BIG !! Every Hero, Every Achiever, Every Great Man has an origin story, story of his struggle, story of his dreams and how he achieved it inspite of various hurdles. These sto

Neemkaroli Maharaj : Smallpox will be quickly eradicated

Image
Jai Gurudev !! Maharaji instructed Larry Brilliant to travel down from the mountains and become part of the World Health Organization’s campaign to end smallpox in India. It took 15 trips for officials to finally take the young doctor seriously and hire him, but each time he was rejected, Maharaji would send him back to try again. “I can’t explain how he even knew the words ‘smallpox’ or ‘eradicate’ in English,” Brilliant said. “I don’t know how he knew that smallpox would be eradicated, or how he had the confidence that there would be a place for me in that effort. I was the youngest person ever hired by the World Health Organization. They tolerated a hippie kid who had been living in a monastery in the mountains. And, as it says on my recruitment papers, I was the only one recruited from the Hanuman Monkey Temple in the Himalayas.” By 1977, they had reached that goal, one that Maharaji foresaw when he sent his young disciple (Larry Brilliant) to join the fight against smallpox

A2 Milk Trend Decoded

Image
The A2 organic milk movement is on trend now. In organic stores, speciality websites, in artisanal fairs - packaged A2 ghee, buttermilk, milk, butter etc, are a rage. Farms that exclusively breed  desi cows, and raise them ‘organically,’ have sprouted. They are small, they are local and they are expensive (think Rs 1800+ for 500 grams of  ghee ). And they all market, the health benefits of drinking organically or naturally grown A2 milk. A1 and A2 are types of beta casein proteins found in cows milk. Jersey cows, imported from the UK, produce a mix of A1 and A2 beta casein protein and Holstein cows, imported from Europe, produce mainly A1 protein. The Indian desi cows produce almost 100 percent A2 beta casein protein rich milk. What’s interesting is that A2 is actually the original beta casein protein found in cow’s milk. Approximately 8000 years ago, a mutation is believed to have taken place leading to two types of beta casein being produced by different species of cows.

Bahadur Shah Zafar’s Poem About The 1857 Revolt & Dilli-The Garden Of Harmony

Gayi yak-ba-yak jo hawa palat nahin dil ko mere qaraar hai  Karun us sitam ko main kya bayan mera gham se seena figar hai  (The winds of fate changed suddenly, my heart is inconsolable How can I describe the pain, my chest is heavy with melancholy) Ye reaya-e-hind tabah hui kahun kya jo in pe jafa hui  Jise dekha hakim-e-waqt ne kaha ye bhi qabil-e-dar hai  (Indians have been ruined, one can’t describe their oppression The new rulers condemned everyone they saw worthy of the gallows) Ye kisi ne zulm bhi hai suna ki di phansi logon ko be-gunah  Wahi kalma-goyon ki samt se abhi dil mein un ke bukhar hai  (Has anyone heard of such tyranny? That innocents were sent to the gallows! The rulers still bear such enmity towards those who recite the Islamic creed) Na tha shahr-e-dehli ye tha chaman kaho kis tarah ka tha yaa’n aman  Jo khitab tha wo mita diya faqat ab to ujda dayar hai  (Delhi was never just a city, it was a garden of harmony They have erased

FIFA ⚽ WORLD CUP : Did you know ??

Image
Sir Isaac Vivian Alexander Richards, known as Viv Richards, is regarded as one of the greatest batsman of all time.  But he also has a distinction of the only man reportedly to have played both World Cup Football and World Cup Cricket....  - Antigua and Barbuda at football (in the qualifiers only). - And West Indies at cricket.  He actually he played for   Antigua and Barbuda   in a qualifying round of the CONCACAF championship, which is in turn the qualifier to get into the World Cup of 1974.  Someone who did actually achieve this unique double is Australian Ellyse Perry, who appeared in the final rounds of both cricket (2009) and football World Cups (2011).

Messi misses penalty to win, underdogs hold on for historic point

Image
FIFA ⚽ World Cup 2018 Underdog Iceland drew  the South Americans 1-1 in its debut game to open up Group D.  Argentine star player, Messi, on whom they were relying much missed  a penalty kick in the second half.   With this draw while Iceland showed that  Euro 2016 was no fluke. But Messi's miss costed Argentina a lot. Incidentally this wasn't first time Messi missed a penalty. Messi missed a crucial penalty during the Copa America 2016 between Argentina & Chile. After Argentina & Chile drew 0-0 in extra time at the Copa America 2016 final, Lionel Messi was the first in line for his team during penalty shootouts, but missed as he curved the ball a little too far from the post despite the goalie diving in the opposite direction. Argentina went on to lose the match 2-4 and in the process the Copa America final to Chile for the second successive year. But which is the biggest penalty to be missed in the history of FIFA World Cup thus far !?  Unarguably, the bi

Visit to Chapora Fort, Goa

Image
Ye Dil Mange More .... Our visit to Goa was coming to an end & we had to drive nearly 500 Kilometers to Pune, however a child inside me was insisting to have one more treat before we cross the border of Goa & hence a brief excursion to Chapora Fort was finalised in the eleventh hour. To reach to the fort we had to take a steep climb of 300-400 meters, but all the fatigue simply vanished as once you get inside you get to see the GORGEOUS views!  So although there wasn't much to do inside the fort, but oh man, some of the most spectacular views you could see of the Arabian Sea and nearby beaches I had seen anywhere in Goa.   To sum up visit to the fort was a "Dil Chahta Hai" moment for us (famous movie Dil Chahta Hai filmed here).

Visit to Fort Aguada, Goa

Image
Scorching heat of May and more than 50 kilometer distance from Caravela Beach Resort, were the reasons compelling enough to convince us not to venture outside the cozy environment of the resort. However, the fact that "the Fort Aguada" is one of the most famous tourist destination in Goa having almost an iconic status with many Bollywood movies (likes of Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, Dil Chahta Hai,Golmal series) being filmed there and being a history buff myself, we finally decided that when in Goa we should definitely not miss the opportunity to visit this place of historical and cultural importance. Constructed by the Portuguese in early 17th Century with an aim to control the movements through the waters of river Mandavi, from here one may see the vast expanse of ‘seeming to be endless’ blue waters of Arabian Sea in front of it. The place is excellent for sightseeing and also that it stands as a testimony to the glory of Portuguese empire. Right adjacent to Fort Aguada
